cyclohexene, cyclohexene cas 110–83–8, cyclohexene manufacturer, cyclohexene supplier

Cyclohexene CAS 110–83–8 is an important compound that is primarily used in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries. It is obtained by treating cyclohexanol with an acid. It is also obtained by the dehydrogenation of benzene and is an industrial intermediate when extracting oil. It is used in the synthesis of the applications of waterproof coatings.

Cyclohexene As an Olefin

As a cycloolefin, cyclohexene is a colorless, inflammable liquid that has a unique sharp smell at room temperature. When placed in the air for a long time, it oxidates into peroxide by air. It can be naturally found in coal tar. It can dissolve in benzene, acetone, hexane, ether, ethanol, carbon tetrachloride, and many other organic solvents.

Cyclohexene can form a binary azeotrope with acetic acids and lower alcohols. It also decomposes fast when around uranium salts in sunlight or any other source of UV rays. Cyclohexene forms naphthalene and benzene between 400–500 degree Celsius.

Cyclohexene as a Regular Raw Material

One characteristic that makes cyclohexene so valuable is that it is very useful as a chemical raw material. It is used in the production of adipic aldehyde, cyclohexane acid, adipic acid, maleic acid, cyclohexane carboaldehyde, and cyclohexyl carboxylic acid in the industry. It is also used as an extraction agent and a stabilizer that possesses high-octane gasoline quality.

Below are some other compounds that cyclohexene helps produce:
(1) it is used in the production of chlorinated cyclohexane, which can be used as a rubber additive, a solvent, or a pharmaceutical intermediate.

(2) Cyclohexanone, derived from cyclohexene, can be employed as a raw material intermediary for medicine, insecticides, fragrances, and dyes. It is also a raw material for dyes (as a polymer modifier).

(3) It is used in the production of cyclohexyl acetate, which is employed as a plastic solvent.

(4) It is used in producing cyclohexanone phenol, which is employed as a raw material in insecticides and medicine.

(5) It is used in the production of amino cyclohexanol, which is employed as an emulsifier and surfactant.

(6) Cyclohexene can also be utilized directly in the preparation of spices as organic intermediates, additives, and solvents.

(7) It can also be used in the laboratory to create butadiene.

Cyclohexene in Selective Oxidation

Cyclohexene reacts vigorously with potent oxidizing agents. While appearing simple in structure (chemical), there are two ways cyclohexene can be used in oxidation sites. These oxidation reactions result in a mix of products with dissimilar functional groups and oxidation states.

For site a, oxidation of the double carbon bond results in trans/cis-cyclohexane-1,2-diol, 7-oxabicyclo[4.1.0]heptane, or adipic acid.

For site b, oxidation at the allylic carbon-hydrogen bond results in cyclohex-2-en-1-one or cyclohex-2-en-1-ol.

These products are valuable industrial intermediates commonly used in medicinal chemistry, material chemistry, pesticide chemistry, and organic chemistry. As a result, regulated cyclohexene oxidation processes that selectively offer the desired products are synthetically useful for applications in academia and industry. This has made them the goal of catalytic and synthetic chemists that work in the field.

Conclusion

Cyclohexene is a very useful hydrocarbon and liquid; many cyclohexene manufacturers and suppliers can attest to this.
